wish list

SO there are a few things that I LOVED and were used daily with Claire Jane. Here are a list of my go to baby items I am looking forward to using again:

1. Moby Wrap- Claire literally lived in it for the first 2-3 months of her life. We went to the park, in the streets in Frederick, family gatherings, the grocery store, and even around the house! Infants NEED to be held, it makes them feel secure and loved during this huge transitional time after birth. What better way than to secure them to you, hands free!

2. Swaddle Blankets- I am a cold girl, always have been. As a nurse for mothers, term babies and wee little Nicu babies, I am always teaching parents to have one extra layer on baby than is on you during the first month. Thermoregulation is crucial during the first few weeks of life. What better way to keep a baby warm, while they are on you of course, than wrapping them up tightly like they were in the womb? Claire LOVED being swaddled, and we did it nightly until she was over 4 months old. She slept better...which means mommy and daddy slept better!

3. The swing!- Claire had to sleep in her swing next to our bed for a few months after she was diagnosed with severe reflux... I mean, severe! I hope and pray this boy doesn't have it too! projectile vomit was the only perfume I wore... the swing was her companion for the first 5 months. She preferred the swinging motion from side to side rather than back and forth...

sound asleep in her swing... ahhhh.

4. Nightgowns- She wore them nightly until we couldn't swaddle her anymore...then we went to zip up gowns. It is so dag-gone easy to do a quick change, nurse, and go right back to sleep.

first nightgown, still in the hospital!

Now...there are some things I want to try with this little guy, one thing being this breathable "water wrap"! Seeing as though I am probably going to deliver in July, it will be pretty darn hot for both of us to be all wrapped in the Moby...this is like the Moby, but breathable mesh.

These amazing wrap baby carriers are sold on Etsy (my favorite place to shop).here
They come in all sorts of different colors, but this blue one is the cutest I think!

2. Blooming Bath- This little flower sponge sits in the sink and allows infants from birth to 6 months to sit comfortably and be bathed! How sweet is this?! We bathed Claire in our huge sink up until this month, at 21 months old! I hope we can do the same with this little guy, boy does it make bath time easy on the knees.

3. Aiden and Anais blankets- These muslin swaddle blankets are perfect for little ones... they are breathable, so you don't feel bad putting them in the crib with a baby. They are super soft and they are HUGE! Claire loved being swaddled and I think she would have slept better if we could have found a swaddle blanket large enough to keep her in... and I think this would have done the trick. I HAVE to get myself one of these.
They are a little pricey for me... I wouldn't spend more than $10 on a blanket otherwise, but for this one, I would make an exception.
This organic muslin sun burst is the most amazing print! I am in love with it.

4. Organic baby wash and lotions- I had no idea all of the horrible chemicals that were put into baby wash! And Johnson and Johnson, of all companies, should be ashamed. After reading this article, I was appalled by what I had been using on my child every.single.day. A product in the Johnson and Johnson baby wash is a KNOWN carcinogen?! From now on...we are sticking to organic soaps and lotions such as these:

There are some things worth the extra cost that goes into buying organic...things like meat, eggs, milk and produce...and now I realize the importance of organic baby bath and lotions.
These can be found at good 'ol Target.

5. Summer Infant Sleek and Secure- This is way over our budget and way out of our league... but I can only imagine how much more sane I would be if I could sit and watch BOTH of my babies sleep. Thinking about moving Claire into a "big girl bed" makes me cringe. Of all the things she could get into...get stuck under... I know we all grew up just fine and are still living today, as my mother would say. But there is some sort of piece of mind...something that puts me at ease to be able to look at my child if I am nervous...to be able to see why they are crying in the middle of the night.

This wish list is pure wishes... there are a few things I am going to HAVE to have before this little one arrives, and others I will just dream about. :)
